Anne McKee is a Mississippi free-lance writer and published author.

Anne McKee is a storyteller, free-lance writer and published author. Ninety-Eight percent of her work is inspired by "her life in the south lane." Southern humor ribbons through the majority of her originally written short stories, plays, skits, vignettes, and newspaper columns.
In July 2008, she was selected for The Mississippi Arts Commission (MAC), Artist Roster. In 2009, she was named to the Teaching Artist Roster. In these positions, Anne McKee's creative work is recommended by MAC, and in part, her fees will be funded by grants through MAC. In October 2008, Anne signed a contract with Turner Publishing Company, Nashville, to author Historic Photos of Mississippi . The book published May, 2009. Anne has traveled the state of Mississippi since that time promoting the book with readings and book signings. She has visited many independent book stores, book store chains, schools, historical institutions, museums, and civic organizations telling her stories about Mississippi with the assistance of the photos published in Historic Photos of Mississippi. Anne writes a weekly editorial for The Meridian Star , and her work can be read in Mississippi Magazine, Today's Mississippi Woman, Oxford So & So Southern Journal, the Magnolia Quarterly, and Women On Writing. Annie B McKee has had an absolutely awesome 2012. Thanks so much to all of the arts communities, schools (one day visits or residencies), libraries, community clubs, civic clubs, historical societies, and publications who have supported her work. Storytelling remains her mainstay -- either through the oral tradition, online publications, and hard print books, newspapers, magazines, and journals. She retains her status as a Teaching Artist, listed on the Mississippi Arts Commission's Roster and as a Performing Artist as well. She continues teaching creative writing classes through the Continuing Ed Department, Meridian Community College, both Spring and Fall sessions as well as an instructor for the annual College for Kids program (teaching performing arts) sponsored by Meridian Community College as well. For the second year, Annie B. McKee was selected as an instructor for the annual Mississippi Whole School Institute as well as an instructor for The Community of Hope College Scholarship program. 2012 marks her 9th year as a columnist for The Meridian Star newspaper, www.themeridianstar.com .
During the year of 2012, her written work was published in the southern anthology, Rocking Chair and Afternoon Tales, as well as LEGENDS -- Mississippi Arts & Entertainment Review (Oct & Nov issues), 393 Magazine (Oct issue), Mississippi Magazine (Nov-Dec, Holiday issue). Mrs. McKee's bestseller, Historic Photos of Mississippi, published by Turner Publishing Co., Nashville, popularity continues -- offering opportunities to teach Mississippi history and heritage. For the third year, the Rose Hill Historic Cemetery Costumed Tour enjoyed 1,000 plus attendees. Annie B. serves as the costumed tour founder and facilitator. She will end 2012 in December with an engagement at Beau Rivage Casino/Convention Center, Biloxi.

As a storyteller , Anne protrayed " The Lady " at The MSU/Riley Center, Meridian, Missisippi in October 2010.
She is the facilitator for a historic tour of Rose Hill Cemetery, Meridian, Mississippi. Volunteers portrayed historic personalities buried there. There are 20 to 25 stops on the tour. The first tour was October 2010 with 2,000 plus attendees. The organizers and players have formed The Rose Hill Company with annual tours planned. The next tour is Saturday, October 15, 2011, 6PM. February, 2010, Poplar Springs Elementary School, a Mississippi Whole School, staged a play featuring the history of Meridian, Mississippi in celebration of the city's Sesquicentennial Celebration. Anne was the playwright and Artistic Advisor.
October 2010, Poplar Springs Elementary School presented five of Anne's short plays featuring historic Mississippi artists.
In August, 2010, Anne completed a five day residency at a Mississippi public library where she taught Performance Arts for elementary age students. A play written and directed by Anne was staged on the final day entitled, Jim Henson -- A Mississippi Artist.

"Historic Photos of Mississippi" (Turner Publishing Co.) continues to have strong sales and can be purchased at all of the major book chains, plus nearly all of the independent bookstores across the state. The book is into the second print.
